Kurt
Kurt Hoss started dog training 20 years ago as a member of the American Hunting Dog Club . He later started his own pet sitting company which also provided in home professional training. Working with animals and spending time outdoors has always been his passion. As a hobby he has raised bobwhite quail, chukkar and Hungarian partridge. In the world of field dogs, Kurt has helped AHDC run many hunt tests, acted as Field Marshall, attended judging seminars and has been involved with all aspects of field trials. Kurt also proudly holds the title as 3 time winner of AHDC annual Quail Championship, 2 times with his German Wire Hair Pointer, Jody and this year in 2006 with 2 year old GWHP, Maggie.
Kurt is very involved with promoting our future sports men, women and youngsters. He was active in the State of Connecticut's first Youth Hunting Day, and has continued this dedication to our youth hunters for the past ten years. He also helped start a youth hunting program for the Manchester Coon and Fox Club which is now an another annual event. Kurt has been involved in many demonstrations including Ladies Range Day, CT Sportsman’s Expo, CT DEP Wildlife Demo and many others.
Kurt found his calling last year as a full time professional dog trainer with Quinebaug Kennels, leaving his 7 year career as a Dental Lab Technician. "Hunting and fishing are my life... and I truly love training dogs." Kurt's abilities to read each dog and form a connection make him a valuable member of the Quinebaug Kennels team.
Kurt and Quinebaug Kennels owner Jennifer Broome both believe in evolving constantly as trainers. In the Spring of 2006 both attended a Rick Smith Dog Training Seminar through Lion Country Supply in PA where they learned new and proven techniques to further advance their skills as professional trainers.
